A marshy meadow with reedbeds and boardwalks, between the Chelmer estuary and the Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation. You can hear the chattering song of nesting reed warblers from May onwards. Later, in summer, it has clouds of dragonflies and other flying insects.
Visiting
Access to Causeway Meadow and Elms Farm Park from Tesco car park via Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation towpath, or join the towpath via seawall footpath. Elms Farm Park also has a small car park on Heybridge Approach (B1018). Heybridge Creek can be reached via a public footpath off The Causeway near the Benbridge Hotel roundabout, or via Hall Road.
Free park-and-ride bus to Tesco store. Buses from Maldon to Witham, Tiptree and Tollesbury run along The Causeway.
Accessible at all times.
